Serving Christ With Open Minds, Open Hearts, and Open Hands

Greg and Kathy Bostrom, Co-Pastors have served Wildwood Presbyterian Church since 1991.  As co-pastors, they share preaching, leadership, and pastoral care responsibilities while each works with specific ministries and programs of the church.

Greg and Kathy met as students at Princeton Theological Seminary (New Jersey), where they both received Master of Divinity degrees in 1983.  Before coming to WPC, they were associate pastors on the staff of the Church of the Covenant (Presbyterian Church USA) in Washington, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh. They have three of the many children who bring joy to our congregation: Christopher, Amy, and David.

Greg grew up in the midwest, attending high school in Wheaton, Illinois.  He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (economics), Princeton Theological Seminary, and McCormick Theological Seminary (Chicago), where he received his Doctor of Ministry degree in 1998.  At WPC he teaches the confirmation class, leads high school mission trips, and works with church committees on worship, mission, property & finance, discipleship, and personnel.

Greg plays a lot of soccer and a little guitar, follows baseball and college basketball (the Fighting Illini, of course), loves watching kids grow up (especially his own) and enjoys the great outdoors.  In another life he might be a whitewater rafting guide or high school basketball coach, but most of the time he wouldn't trade professions with anyone.

Kathy hails from the west coast, born and raised in southern California near Los Angeles harbor.  She graduated from California State University, Long Beach, California, with a degree in psychology, and spent one year studying at Pahlavi University in Shiraz, Iran. She earned both a Master of Arts in Christian Education and a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. In 2000, Kathy received a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago.  Her sermons have received several awards, and many have been published.  Kathy works with the Board of Deacons, the church preschool, and women's ministries.

Kathy is an award-winning author for children and adults. Her many published works include, What is God Like?, Who is Jesus?, The Snake in the Grass, Josie’s Gift, and Finding Calm in the Chaos: Christian Devotions for Busy Women  (www.kathleenlongbostrom.com). Kathy has written more than twenty books, available online and in most bookstores.

Along with writing, Kathy loves to read, both novels and nonfiction.  She enjoys taking walks and swimming.  Tennis is her favorite sport, though she stays true to her Los Angeles heritage by rooting for the Dodgers and the Lakers.  Kathy loves being a mom, though that role requires less time as her kids are practically grown.

Both Kathy and Greg consider it a  privilege to be part of a church that really does seek to serve Christ with open minds, open hearts, and open hands.
