Mission Causes

WPC is proud to support the following causes with dollars as well as prayer.

Presbyterian World Mission

Presbyterian Church (USA): WPC pledges 50% of its mission giving to undesignated mission at the Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly level, in the United States and around the world.
Theological Education Fund: supporting the eleven Presbyterian seminaries
Presbyterian Disaster Relief (PDA): emergency funding to national and international sites

Local Presbyterian Mission

Presbyterian Camps (Saugatuck): Chicago Presbytery’s summer camp on the dunes of Lake Michigan
McCormick Theological Seminary: the Presbyterian Seminary in Chicago (Hyde Park)

WPC-Based Mission

ExtraCare...for families living with Alzheimer’s: respite care for people with Alzheimer’s
Food Pantry: Deacon community outreach with non-perishable food and grocery vouchers
Youth Mission: church support of youth and adult mission trips and Sunday School projects

Lake County Mission

A Safe Place: Waukegan shelter for abused women and children
Community Youth Network (CYN): services for troubled youth
CROP Walk: annual hunger walk for Lake County and international hunger projects
Habitat for Humanity: building homes for low income residents in North Chicago
HealthReach: Waukegan medical clinic for low income people
Interfaith Chaplaincy: Winchester House chaplaincy and counseling for low income people
Mano a Mano: Hispanic community center in Round Lake
PADS: network of homeless shelters (including WPC) staffed by volunteers

Special offerings are received for special needs as they arise.  WPC also sets aside funds for causes identified during the year.
