FROM THE INTERIM PASTOR’S STUDY…
“The Lord Is Risen!”
“The Lord is risen!” These triumphant words were used by Christians in the first century
to greet other Christians. The equally triumphant reply was, “He is risen indeed!” Our call
to worship on Easter will include this ancient greeting.
It is the Easter faith, this faith in the risen and living Lord, which enables us to meet life.
For if we believe Jesus Christ is risen and living, then we believe all life is lived in his
presence, that we are literally never alone, that we face no temptation nor endure any
sorrow without Him.
It is the Easter faith, this faith in the risen and living Lord, which enables us to meet
death. For with Christ’s resurrection from the dead, God has triumphed over the grave.
And in Christ, we have the assurance that God is present with us not only in life but in
death and beyond.
Yes, Easter is at the heart of the Christian proclamation. It is a time of new beginnings,
new and renewed faith, and new hope. There is no better day than Easter to renew your
journey of faith as a Christian and our journey of faith together as Wildwood Presbyterian
Church, as we look forward to God leading this great church into the future.
We do not know what that future holds. But we do know who holds that future – our risen
Lord Jesus Christ. So as we begin as a church to discern that future, we do so in hope,
knowing the risen Christ leads us onward in the journey. Despite any uncertainty we
might have, the risen Christ goes ahead of us, showing us the way.
I hope you can join with us for Easter and Holy Week worship. Come celebrate, for the
Lord is risen! He is risen indeed!
Grace and peace,
